ADAM-rWBC by NanoEntek is an automated fluorescence cell counter designed specifically to measure residual white blood cells (rWBCs) in leukoreduced blood products. It ensures blood products meet regulatory standards for transfusion by detecting extremely low concentrations of leukocytes.
Uses Propidium Iodide (PI), a fluorescent dye that intercalates with the DNA of nucleated cells (WBCs). Since red blood cells and platelets lack nuclei, they are not stained, allowing for precise isolation of leukocytes.
Primarily used in blood banks and hospitals for quality control of leukoreduced red blood cells and platelets.
